Island Cleanup 9/30/17

The island clean up scheduled for 9/30 couldn’t be coming at a better time!

Our focus will be on the removal of debris along the beach. Specifically, materials that can easily fit into trash bags. Items such as plastic, broken pieces of household items, tangles of trash, lawn furniture, etc.

Please take extra precaution as some of the residual debris from the “pink house” which was devastated by the storm may contain asbestos. The county has visited the island and has plans to remove the major debris following our clean up efforts this weekend.

THIS SATURDAY we need volunteers to make a big impact on the debris on our beach. Grab a friend or a neighbor and come help!

This event is sponsored by the International Coastal Cleanup. We need to fill out a simple form available at LGI Carts for all waste collected. The dumpster will arrive Friday and is located by the first small dock as you enter Eldred’s Marina.  All completed forms need to returned to LGI Carts by Tuesday.

MEET at 9am on Saturday the 30th at LGI carts to pick up your forms, garbage bags if you need them and your t-shirt!

If you have any questions you can call Deric at 941-697-3820 or Rhonda at 941-999-7788.

NOTE:

ALL GARBAGE PICKED UP BEFORE SATURDAY AT 9 AM NEEDS TO BE KEPT UNTIL A FORM IS FILLED OUT. FORMS ARE AVAILABLE AT LGI CARTS.

NO YARD WASTE IN THE DUMPSTER.

NO HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE.

TIRES, APPLIANCES, E-WASTE AND HAZARDOUS WASTE FROM THE BEACH MUST BE LEFT ON THE FAR SIDE OF THE DUMPSTER IN AN ORDERLY MANNER.

If we do not complete the required forms and follow these simple steps we may not be able to participate next year.

Thank you for helping make our beach safe again!  Together we can make a big difference!
