LGPOA BOARD BUSINESS MEETING – December 2, 2021
CALL TO ORDER
President Richard Leydon called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm at the Placida Beach Clubhouse.
PRESENT
Board members present were Richard Leydon, Joe Bokar, Barb Dwyer, and Laurie Tremblay. Conferencing in by phone were Rhonda Olson and Roy Petteway.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Interim Treasurer Richard Leydon reported that the bank account currently has a balance of $24, 582.70.
COMMITTEE UPDATES
NAVIGATION
Channel Marker 8 is now missing, and Marker 2 has been replaced, but is misaligned and is a hazard for boaters in all directions. Richard Leydon will call the county to notify them of both issues.
OLD BUSINESS
SEWER PROJECT
Rhonda Olson updated the board on her conversations with Attorney Robert Volpe. The need for an attorney was discussed and determined that PIE had an attorney and was moving forward to stop the project and if they succeeded, the project would be too expensive with just LGI. The Tentative List of Issues on the docket was distributed and reviewed. Barb Dwyer was asked to be the main email recipient for LGI for PSC emails. Barb will forward all email to the board.
UTILITY DISTRICT
Rhonda Olson also updated the board on the status of the Utility District saying that while they are poised to send a letter and postcard for response, there is no point in taking any action until the decision regarding EU is in.
ROAD REPAIR
Richard Leydon has stayed in contact with LGIFR and Andy Dixon pertaining to the road repairs. Private property liability issues continue to be an issue when property owners along the main path request assistance with filling holes. It was agreed that maintenance of roads and paths off the main path should be the responsibility of the homeowners and associations of those roads.
ROBERTS RULES OF ORDER
The board will research Roberts Rules of Order and send examples they find relevant to our organization and share them with the board. A set of rules to follow will then be written and adopted to provide consistency in the meeting procedures and minutes of the LGPOA.
NEW BUSINESS
REVIEW BYLAWS
The board should review the bylaws and suggest any updates and changes and submit for discussion at the next board meeting.
NEW YEAR’S EVE POLICE PROTECTION
Richard Leydon will work with Bill Underhill to secure Police presence on Friday, December 31, 2021.
ADDITIONS TO COCONUT TELEGRAPH
A suggestion was made to include a statement reminding members that Bill Underhill is not law enforcement. Bill will be asked to request a statement from the Sheriff’s Department stating they are the only law enforcement on the island. The board decided that underage golf cart drivers would be followed home by the Sheriff and the parents would be spoken to, rather than issuing a ticket.
MEMBERSHIP MEETING AND POKER RUN
The LGPOA will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A short meeting of members will be held, followed by an LGPOA sponsored Poker Run at 12 noon that will be open to all islanders. Prizes will be awarded for a yet undetermined # of best card hands. There will be no potluck this year, due to COVID.
BIGGER ITEMS CLEAN UP DAY
Laurie Tremblay suggested holding a clean up day for bigger items that are left on the island, such as Appliances, Golf Carts and Furniture. Richard Leydon will talk to Andy about it and suggested using the Waste Management “Green Bags” as well.
ADJOURN
Joe Bokar made a motion to adjourn and seconded by Roy Petteway at 1:52 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Dawn Bokar
Interim Secretary
