B. ENVIRONMENTAL Turtle Season discussion: no permitted activity this year, somehow(lol) turtles are hatching even without our intervention!!

5. TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION:

A. EU UPDATE
EU is appealing its application denial, but is only allowed to use evidence already presented during original hearings. Jack submitted a letter of support from the county commissioners, but its consideration was denied by the OPC because it was dated after the case had been closed.

B. ELDRED’S UPDATE
Eldred’s is under contract for sale. Timing is not clear, buyer is not identified. Barging, parking, water taxi are all unknowns. Robert Hill is working to get landing on the island, using the public ramp as a loading site. Palm island ferry barge could potentially land on our island if we had an adequate landing (i.e. could they use Andy’s existing landing? esp. if he no longer runs a barge service upon Eldred’s closing). Suggestion was made by Joe to send a letter to commissioners clarifying that we don’t need a barge service, just mainland access for a barge to land and load. Now that sewer to the island is not imminent, septic service truck access to the island is in jeopardy, and is a “health and safety” issue. Some smaller barges are already doing this at theexisting county facility. Robert Hill is building a barge landing on his property adjacent to Hideaway, but we need a mainland landing/loading site.

C. COCONUT TELEGRAPH
Laurie agreed to work on the next issue. The Board agreed that articles should be submitted by the last week of August for a September issue.

D. KIDS FISHING TOURNAMENT
Pede and Brian to brainstorm.

6. OTHER TOPICS:

Associate memberships, followup with Jeff to draft an amendment.

Green’s hole: North/south traffic causes problem, affects but not caused by residents of Beach Lane, dock association, POA need to cooperate to raise funds to repair.
